Starting on April 22, 2010, the EPA issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices:

The Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule states that every contractor performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in residences and child-occupied facilities built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

At America’s Best Choice, we are proud of the fact that each of our Dealers is a certified lead renovator firm. This means they are certified under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) strict guidelines regarding material safety standards, and that their staff has completed lead safety training and awareness.

As a homeowner you want to know that proper lead safety precautions are taken. This is vitally important to your family during home renovation projects. If you, or the company you allow to work on your home, do not comply with the RR&P certification, there could be fines or lawsuits for civil responsibility. In States where the certification is controlled by the EPA itself, not the state, the fines could be up to $37,500 per infraction/per day. At America’s Best Choice, your safety and well being are an absolute top priority. We will make sure all steps are taken to educate you as a homeowner, and that all safety measures and precautions are used during your home improvement job.

Whether you are actively planning window replacement or not, take a moment to visit the EPA’s website and learn about the dangers of lead. When it is time to hire your window company, ensure they are a “Lead-Safe Certified Firm”.
